O_o
what thread are you talking about?
if it's bobbin thread you're talking about (the thread that comes up from the bottom), make sure the bobbin is in correctly, and that it has thread in it. If it is/does, thread the top part of the machine, hold the end of the thread, and stitch down once, bringing the needle back up. with the needle in the up position, the top thread should be looped down into the machine. pull on the end of the top thread, and then pull the resulting loop of bobbin thread through.
I hope that solves your problem.
If it is top threading you are having a problem with, look at the manual for the machine, it should tell you how to thread it. (I can't tell you right off the top of my head because threading varies from brand to brand, machine to machine.)

hi Shion! Ok: look at your manual first! That usually gives an illustrated tutorial on how to thread the machine. Also, you could ask someone in your house who DOES know how to thread. If there isnt' anyone, just listen to what mindtailor already said ^_^

ooh what kind of machine? I have an old black Singer, but it is still very nice. (btw if you have the same machine I can scan that part of the manual for you)
you checked everything, and it's still not picking up the thread? It might be a problem with the machine.
make sure you did the stitch-and-pull thing with the needle first, and make sure there's thread on the bobbin. (if you're not familiar with any kind of sewing machine, it's the little spool of thread in the bottom.)

What's so odd about a guy sewing?
I got a newer machine, but I also have an old foot-powered cast iron one at my grandmother's house (Old stuff is cool..
)

"round shaped object"? does it look like a short, fat spool (but smaller)? kinda like this:
http://www.cosmos-buttons.com.tw/image/ ... 20machine% then that's called the bobbin and you have to wind the thread you're using around it ... what brand of sewing machine are you using? can you guess how old it is? that info would really help us trying to help you.
