Need help: Solid Snake (MGS series)

Snake 1 - Snake 2 - Snake 3 - Combat Knife

Okay, first off, I'm being the Snake from pics 1 and 2.
Pic 3 is just a reference to what I think he's wearing on his forearms underneath.

The first thing I'd like to figure out, is what kind of... "Substance"...
...I should use for his undershirt (whatever's covering his forearms).
Next would be the boots. If possible, I'd like to buy boots as accurate as possible.
As for the rest, I can probably buy most of it wherever commando supplies are sold. lol

Any help would be cool.
Oh, and Animethon doesn't like real knives...
Any tips on making a cool combat knife?
(I'll try to find a toy one, probably, but I'm thinking a homemade one would be cooler)

I found a wicked-cool knife, so no worries there.
I just need to know about that thing he's wearing. >.<

PS: I'm aware of the difference between Solid Snake and Naked Snake, but putting "Naked Snake" in the topic title might be weird. >.<
Can't think of who to cosplay as?
Me either!

the undershirt looks like an ordanary baseball shirt. They are really tight form fitting. You can probably get one from any sport store. They look like this Image
Just ask for a baseball undershirt, and they are pretty inexpensive. The boots, really just look like any sort of boots. If you wanted something comfortable and don't mind spending the money, i would say check out the Doc Martins, but those are REALLY expensive. Hope that helped!
My only purpose is to teach children to rebel against authority figures.
