This isn't exactly cosplay, but...
I purchased a Black-Spiderman costume over the internet for Hallowe'en a few months ago. It didn't arrive on time, but I'm thinking I'll go ahead and embarass myself by wiping it out for the new movie, or some other costume event that pops up.
It looks great, but I can't see through the eyes of the mask. It's made of lycra, and I'm just wondering if there's any way I can thin the areas around they eyes without ruining it.
Lycra costume issue
I'm not sure that you can thin the area out, because I have yet to work with lycra, but something that you might want to concider is cutting out two holes for the eyes and sewing a type of black mesh in, that you can see out of, but people can't really see in. I'm not sure, but maybe something like this:

That's the only solution I can think of, but if you're going with that you will really want to buy some scrap sheets of the fabric you're using and practice. A lot.
