Not sure how much help I'll be, but trying.

A very simple way to make a pretty headdress: get lace (for the edging), fabric for whatever color you need it to be, ribbons to tie on, and the secret: construction paper. You can cut out a simple rectangle out of the paper. It's hard for some people to tuck seams in to sew, so what i do is sandwich the lace over the paper and the fabric over the lace. Sew that up, sew the ribbons to the edges, and voila! your headdress is done. I'm sorry if that wasn't help, but if you need more details or have questions, ask me ^_^;;

I don't know if this may help as much but when I made my head piece, I made it 10" long and 5" wide and it was two layers of fabric, I hemmed the edges all the way around. Then I added one strip of black lace, a white piece on top, then laced a black ribbon through the white lace, and finally sewed frilly white lace around the edges..

I have included an example:

I hope it isn't too big >....<

edit: Its basically what Renovan said..

Theres a magazine called Gosurori that have many patterns in each one. I only have the one scanned but take a look thru the patterns and maybe youll find something. I know there a cute mini top hat there.
