Legend of Zelda: Zelda

Post by Kait » Wed Jun 08, 2005 1:49 pm

So, sorry if I'm breaking protocol by just posting this thread without introducing myself, but I'm really sweating here. -_- I've been wanting to make a Zelda costume since late last year, and I know what to do for the armor parts (thanks to http://amethyst-angel.com/armormaking.html<3) but I'm not sure about the apron or earrings or crown, and I have -no- idea how to make a pattern for the dress. I have friends with mothers who are good at sewing, but none with pattern-making, and that is really my problem. I have no idea how to mix and match other patterns, or anything to do on that subject. I really don't -_- So any help would be so unbelievably appreciated, I can't express it with mere words. It's for a convention that's only a month away, I haven't been procrastinating, I just have no idea what I need to do to start it. Thank you very much.

These are the best reference pictures I could find off-hand, I have more saved on my computer at home if anyone needs them. Thank you very much. http://www.ganonstower.com/scr143.shtml

I don't have any specific pattern numbers for you, but it shouldn't be hard to find a gown with a similar shape. If the pattern you pick has sleeves, just leave them off and finish the armholes to make the dress sleeveless. If you'd rather make a separate top and skirt (sort of like those in the historical section of pattern books), that would work, too, because she has that dark pink "vest" (whatever it's called!) covering the waist. For that vest, you can use a pattern for a tank top with a similar neckline. Pick a size or two bigger than you'd normally wear so you can get it to drape the way Zelda's does.

Your sewing friends should be able to help you make minor adjustments to the patterns you buy because that's not nearly has involved as drawing patterns from scratch.

Good luck! ^_^
