DOA2: Red Helena Costume Help Please!!

Hey there everyone. I'm planning on cosplaying as Helena from Doa2, the red outfit shown in the pic. I haven't got any problems with getting the gloves, a hair extension, or the white part of the outfit...but I am completely stumped on what type of material to use for the red jacket and boots. At one point in time I was thinking red crush velvet but I wasn't sure if that would be too flimsy and not the right look. Then I was thinking some type of polyester or similar material. What do you guys think I should use? I also need tips on how to get the gold decorative trim on the colar and jacket tails.

I would use red crush velvet since I saw how my friend's Gilder jacket looks like used with it and I personally like it. As for the gold trim, either sew the thing on with gold embroidery or you can get fabric paint and hope it comes out.
