I'm over 30 and cosplay just fine. I don't have a high-profile following, but I do have a great network of cos-friends and thoroughly enjoy sharing the things I learn and do.

Having progress pictures helps! Documenting your work visually is a great way to show people that yes, you did indeed do that.
