A friend of mine just did a Tifa made out of fakey leather. It's quite a bit less expensive than real leather, and easier to sew. It looks really good for the Tifa too.

There is a really great, though admittedly small con in Boise, Idaho every year called Anime Oasis. 2006 will be it's fith year, and I encourage anyone who lives near the area and enjoys a good anime convention to attend. I'd suggest using fabric paints(not the puffy kind). Just stick a peice of cardboard or something inside thitights so the color doesn't run. Or so they don't stick together! It'll be MUCH better than trying to sew the shapes on. good luck! Let me know how it turns out.

Usually when I work with stretch fabric I hem it by hand. It's easier that way, and I can do it in the car on the way to the con!
