About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
The photo of the child is me when I was 5. My mom made it out of satin for the skirt and bows, with a long sleeve shirt and white pants for modesty.
The other picture is the fuku I made when I was older, in 2009. I made it completely from scratch out of lycra and cotton. I hand pattern the leotard, along with everything else including the boots, skirt, and collar. The wig was one of my first styling projects. - Personal Thoughts:
- Back when I was 5, I made my mom sew for me a handmade Sailor Moon costume, complete with long hair, two wands, and a tiara. I pranced around in at school, beaming with pride.
Fast forward to twelve years later, when I made my first Sailor fuku. I pushed myself to make it as accurate as I could at the time, even scoring an authentic wand from the 90's. I love Sailor Moon and can't wait to make her again!
