Construction Details:

pretty simple costume. top is part of my body suit pattern i just made into a crop top and added the silver the bottom. the sleeves have that pointed tip at the end, did that by using two identical pattern pieces in the shape of a parallelogram that i doubled. i sewed the two pieces together then sewed it to the sleeve then sewed the sleeve together. the skirt is a circle skirt with a waist band and silver trim. i had to make a separate pattern for the trim so it would lay flat. i painted a grommet belt silver. made shoe covers using jenni's tutorial on da. the silver part on the shoe is craft foam i sprayed with spray adhesive and pressed the silver fabric to then top stitched. it's held onto the shoe cover with velcro. the super symbol is made of heat formed plastic. used spray paint on it and velcroed to the top. the cape is double layered, the outside is the same shiny black spandex and the inside is red dress fabric with a hint of glitter. patterned, sewn, turned inside out and topstitched. the silver trim is ribbon. cape attached with velcro also.

Personal Thoughts:

i don't really read dc comics and i don't know much about supergirl but i love her design, soooo cute. i used to watch the superman cartoon when i was a kid and would love to do some of the costumes from that. anyways dark supergirl is kind of a bamf and i really wanted to use this amazing black and silver spandex. jenni (aka mostflogged) was super amazing and put together a supergirl costume in like two days and set up a photoshoot so we could get some super kawaii pics together. so happy with how they turned out.
