About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Mari's blouse was made from a simple blouse pattern and white kona cotton, which I initially modified to make sure that it could retain its peak at the bottom. I sewed green bias tape along the bottom for the trim as well.
There are two to three versions of the skirt! Initially I made a plaid pleated skirt with a traditional plaid pattern, but later on found a skirt that resembled the unique plaid as well. This was for the original 2008 version.
For the 2012 version, I've continued to use that one until more recently, since I now have fabric to construct a slightly more accurate pleated skirt. It should be ready for Japan Expo.
The tie, patch, and headset were purchased online. - Personal Thoughts:
- I made the original version of this cosplay in 2008, by just using a white standard shirt, a plaid skirt I made (and later on a replacement skirt), and a quick patch and headset made of felt.
Being a huge fan of Mari, I decided to rework on it and made the entire shirt from scratch out of a sturdy cotton, and am currently remaking the skirt based off of a more accurate plaid design.
Her ewer version was completed in late 2012, and has been worn to several conventions since 2008, Anime LA 2012, Fanime 2012, and Anime Expo 2013. It's one of my favorite since I adore Mari.
