About this Costume
Construction Details:
this costume is my very first entry in my first costume contest

it took me a good week to make and if ur really picky about it, 17+ hours

I had lots of fun and difficulty with this costume but im really glad i made it even though i didnt win, and i had lots of fun wearing it

materials:
-white wedding dress fabric
-blue satin
-white lace
-white hem
-plexiglass
-window tint
-red ribbon
-white colored pearl beads
-cream colored pearl beads
-silver colored pearl beads
-turquoise colored pearl beads
-white waxed cored
-black cotton
-gold colored thumb tacks
-bamboo skewers
-eyelets
-red fabric paint
-blue fabric paint
-black ribbon
-card stock
-gold chain
-24 gauge wire
-elastic

Construction:
1) i started out by making a white corset lined with blue satin
2) made a poofy underskirt to give the dress some nice volume
3) made the outer skirt in 2 parts
-the long trailing section first with a nice frilly trim and blue satin to match the bodice
-the front poofy section with a blue satin lining
4) i used fabric adhesive to add the white lace onto the costume to not have the sewn looking edge
5) i cut the plexiglass next and i heated and shaped it in a conventional oven to make it curved
6) i used window tint to make the glass dark but making sure i can still see through it
7) using white fabric scraps, i hot glued the white fabric edge so i can wear it without cutting up my face
8) using eyelets, i applied it to both the dress and the eye piece so i can easily tie and untie it
9) i made the red and black hair pieces with red lace and black fabric with the cardstock as a sort of foundation? to keep the square shape
10) threaded all the beading with the white corded beads to hold up the hoop skirt and the wired beads for the hair piece
11) i steamed the bamboo skewers and shaped them to have a curve and used the black cotton fabric to make long strips for the hoop skirt
12) sewed the hoop skirt together and i used the gold thumbtacks for decoration
13) the designs were hand painted on by me
14) my friends were so kind and helped to paint these beautiful designs on my face and my arm
