Yay I got to cosplay Roy!!! He was my favorite character in Smash Bros. Melee, so much that I bought the GBA game :DDD I only had about a week to make this costume. The design is based off of the original art for the GBA game, since I liked that design better and the one in Melee was so fancy! The cape is made of royal blue crepe satin with red lining; the top is made of blue suede and lined with satin blanket binding (XD). The armor is shaped by interfacing and covered with dark blue dancewear fabric. I bought the gloves, cut off the fingers, hemmed them, and added the silver part. I put the silver on the boots to make them longer; they're actually just attached to the bottom of my white capris XD The headband is made of dancewear as well, but I didn't get a chance to draw the gold designs on them :( The sword is simply a Nerf sword spraypainted with gold on the hilt by my boyfriend, and I added a red jewel on both sides. I cut the wig myself the day before so I also didn't get a chance to experiment and make it look ruffled/spiky like Roy's actual hair, but I'm hoping I'll get a chance to work on it soon. The challenge in this costume was picking out the right fabrics and the right colors since the original art basically only uses the same shade of blue, red, and gold on his entire costume ^^; I'm happy with my selections though, and I'm very happy to have been able to cosplay Roy since I love him and I've never seen anyone in person cosplay him!
