About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
This was an easy costume to make! Because there isn't much to this particular outfit, I wanted to make sure everything looked great in my construction. The skirt is made from blue twill that I already had--there are four functioning pockets and the yellow topstitching is my own personal touch. The shirt is orange kona cotton and pre-packaged yellow bias tape with an invisible zipper front. (It was really nice to not have to make my own bias tape for a change!) The necklace is a ring made from fimo polymer clay on a braided leather cord and the pink Fairy Tail emblem on my hand is painted on with Kryolan's alcohol activated body paint. I bought the keys on ebay, so I cannot take credit for those... but they add a nice touch, don't you think?
- Personal Thoughts:
- If there is any character that embodies my personality in an anime, it's Lucy. I swear, some of the similarities are uncanny! Fairy Tail is my current favorite thing and I had this lovely yellow blonde wig that's been waiting to be used for five years, so how could I NOT want to be Lucy? I chose this variation because orange is my favorite color and I already had half of the materials I needed to make it. Though the costume is comfortable, the shoes are 4 and 1/2 inches high... what was I thinking?!
The only real downside to this costume is that everybody thinks I'm from Dragon Ball Z. That's what I get for not doing the main outfit.

- Styling Notes
- This started out as a very long wig. The ponytail is actually a stub I made from the length left over from cutting it to below shoulder length! Since the ponytail is a separate piece that I sewed into the wig. I actually just bought a new one, but there aren't pictures with it yet so I'll update my info later.
