Construction Details:

This costume was DEFINITELY a challenge for my mom and I. We had worked with wonderflex before, but never to this degree. So, making the chest plate dealt with a lot of trial and error. After reading someone's suggestion over at Cosplay.com, we molded the wonderflex around a fencing breastplate for the breast area. The shoulder pads were made by creating a pattern out of newspaper, cutting out the wonderflex, and simply bending it into the shape we liked. All the "gold" detail was made out of craft foam and then glued to the wonderflex. Another fun thing about this costume was the embroidered collar. Mom had tried to practice hand stitch the design onto scrap green fabric, but that didn't turn out as nice as we wanted. Luckily, we were able to find a professional embroiderer in town that was willing to help us with the design. While there's also a golden design around the sleeves, it's hard to see because of the chest plate. The shoes are also boot covers that we made to match the "arm warmers." And the headdress was made using various jewelry accessories from Micheal's Craft Store.
