About this Costume
Construction Details:
I know I know, I don't have the cleavage to pull off this costume... but you don't know how much I love this character... I've been waiting to do this costume for YEARS. I did everything to make up for the lack of my endowment ok... I sewed that vest by hand for eight hours straight. And I hope it is apreaciated that I didn't half ass my fans. I have seen so many Kitana cosplayers with these great costumes and then some fans that they bought from Chang's emporium or something and they are always blue with big ugly dragons painted all over them Kitana only ever had ONE set of blue fans and they were VERY interacate with big knives at the ends of them I have yet to see anyone pull that off. All of her other fans were SILVER they were always SILVER. I haven't seen anyone else do that ever. I hand painted those fans myself to make certain they were going to be the right color. Hope you enjoy. I almost didn't get to do this cosplay after spending an absurd amount of time getting prepared because I tried to use the same fabric from the vest to do the leggings and absolutely NOTHING that I did made them stay up and they were awful looking... Distraught on the day of the con, and way too devoted to my character to go without leggings I searched all day long on the first day... and by a miracle, I actually managed to find a clare's in a nearby mall in seattle that was selling these leggings in just the right color. Out of joy and fear I bought three packets of them just in case. The result was a cos-play I must admit to being proud of. The only thing that I would do to change it and wear it again is add some backing and possibly even some eilets around those holes I made in that fabric for the lace up of the bodice. I also think that the elastic I used for the arm cuffs should be changed to leather so that they don't grip my arms in an awkward looking way. I just didn't have time to put that all together when I made this costume. The next time I use it, I will make the improvements.
