It was my first time at the con and my first California con and I had a blast! I always love going to cons out of state because every state has different sub cultures within the con scene sub culture and I love seeing how other areas do cons.
ALA was waaaaaay more cosplay and photo shoot heavy than we are here in Arizona and it was really cool to see all the photo shoots going on all hours of the day. (I also got pulled into a DR shoot, which was neat, but I never got their contact information! Looking for the Fukawa who organized the shoot, I was your Kirigiri!)
I may have also gone a little crazy in the artist alley, but there was so much talent on display and it’s all artists I don’t usually get a chance to see and I always feel good about supporting the artists because they are all talented wonderful people with bills to pay.
Nikki and I also ran panels! We did some old standards: Savvy Cosplayer’s Guide to Wig Buying and Fandom Etiquette, and then two new ones: What the Heck is Dangan Ronpa? and Commercial Pattern Literacy, both went really well! The Dangan Ronpa one was even visited by Togami’s English VA which was really neat! Commercial Pattern Literacy was a ton of fun for me because I’m a nerd who loves patterns and I also love helping people achieve cosplay and I really look forward to doing it again!
I also loved the ribbon thing! I didn’t get a ton but I had fun with them! I really want to make ribbons for next year!
I’m definitely planning on returning next year, and I’ll be doing day 0 for sure!
