About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I have always liked Dungeons & Dragons. I played the role playing board game back in the 70's and 80's. Later on I player many D & D video games. I usually play either a fighter or cleric character. In the game, clerics are versatile figures, both capable in combat and skilled in the use of divine magic. Clerics are powerful healers due to the large number of healing and curative magics available to them. With divinely-granted abilities over life or death, they are also able to repel or control undead creatures. Whether the cleric repels or controls undead is dependent on its alignment. My Celtic Cleric Costume didn't need a wig. I used a Priest / Bishop robe and added an official Celtic Cross that I bought at a specialty store. Clerics are reluctant to fight physically and draw blood so I have either a concealed short sword or dagger. If needed a cleric can use those weapons or a staff effectively. I wore this costume proudly at Youmacon 2010 in Detroit, Michigan.
